Live data syncing with Google Sheets

Google Sheets Connection

The Google Sheets integration is one of our most powerful features. Unlike uploading a static Excel or CSV file, this creates a live link to your data in the cloud.

Benefits

  • Real-time Updates: Add a row on your phone/tablet in Google Sheets, then click "Refresh" in SheetsToLabels to print instantly.
  • Collaboration: Your team can edit the data while you handle the printing.
  • No File Handling: No need to download/upload files repeatedly.

How to Connect

  1. Go to the Data Source tab.
  2. Click the Google Sheets icon.
  3. Sign In: A popup will ask you to authorize SheetsToLabels to view your spreadsheets. We only ask for read-only permission.
  4. Select File: A file picker will appear. Search for and select your spreadsheet.
  5. Select Sheet: Choose the specific tab (worksheet) you want to use. Ensure your data follows our Best Practices for the best results.

  2. Design your label using the columns found.
  3. If you change data in Google Sheets:
    • Go back to the Data Source tab.
    • Click the Sync/Refresh Icon next to the filename.
    • The new data will pull in immediately without disrupting your design.

Requirements

  • You must have a Google Account.
  • The spreadsheet must be accessible to that account.
  • The first row must be headers.

Troubleshooting

"Authorization Failed"

  • Ensure your browser is not blocking popups.
  • Try clearing cache or using Incognito mode to sign in again.

"Sheet is empty"

  • Ensure you selected the correct tab.
  • Check that your data starts in cell A1.

"I added a column but it's not showing"

  • You must click the Reload/Refresh button in the Data Source panel to fetch the new structure.

Unlinking

To disconnect a sheet:

  1. Go to Data Source.
  2. Click the Trash/Remove icon next to the connected sheet.
  3. This will clear the data from the editor. Your visual design elements will remain, but any Merge Fields will show placeholder errors until new data is bound.
